Oh, The Palace. The oldest and most breathtaking hotel in the city. This is the second time I decided to plan a staycation here because it’s just such an amazing experience that eases us right into relax mode and feels like we’re far from home instantly upon arrival. My good friend and I booked a room to celebrate her birthday– our kind of celebration. Endless laughs, wine, bathrobes, cheese? Nothing beats those simple pleasures (besides the sweeping chandelier courtyard, that is)…
The enthralling entryway that leads you to this courtyard gets me every time. As soon as we arrived, we grabbed a quick coffee before heading up to our room. Catching these beauties and this sparkling setting in the daylight is something out of a romance novel. Rich history repletes from wall to wall, it’s crazy to me that this building has been around since 1875. Several renovations have taken place, including pretty recently!
In 2015, the Palace underwent a multi-million dollar renovation that married classically inspired contemporary design with authentic, historic architecture. It has enough stories within its walls to fill a book, but I will just leave you to scrolling through these photos for now!
The rooms are equally beautiful– 11-foot ceilings highlighting original details and elements. Marble floors and brass detailing. Lush accents and Parisian-like windowsills dressed with velvet curtains. Room service while sitting on the window seats, watching the world go by and the sun set, le sigh. Yes please!

We walked a block down the street and had dinner at Trou Normand, I’ve been dying to try it – we really enjoyed it! Arancini, spicy coppa and a hearty cow’s milk cheese were the highlights, and wine…always wine.
I’d say that Courtney had an indulgently fun birthday. This is how the evening ended! My absolute favorite part about staying at a swanky hotel is 100% room service in robes in the morning. Especially when that morning happens to be a Monday…
I hope you have an amazing week, friends! If you’re ever needing a quick escape if you’re a local, or coming to visit, you must stay at The Palace. You’ll love.
Happy Birthday, Court. Love you! xx
<3 !!!!!!!!!
The best time!
The most beautiful hotel, you’ll have to make a trip even just for tea in their courtyard next time you visit SF! 🙂 Hope all is well, Corina! x
