Cheetah or Leopard?

I’ve had an on-again, off-again relationship with animal print. I’ve always loved the idea of wearing it or injecting accents in a home. I guess it just takes the right piece to tickle my fancy. A pair of shoes comes to mind that I slipped on most days a couple of years back, but I realized I haven’t touched leopard in awhile. Well, until recently– we’re back on!

I never know what to call it by the way–is it leopard or cheetah? I’m not quite sure which to call this one– but either way, I’m onboard big time for spring thanks to DVF. Side note: I don’t know how this is possible because I’ve tried many on and used to sell them like hotcakes to styling clients back in the day– but this is my first DVF wrap dress!

A few key pointers when hunting for the perfect leopard print– the colors, size of the print, and style of the piece need to balance out. It can be a louder print, so finding the right one that’s neutral-enough and on equal playing fields with the stripes and plaids of the world is the goal. I like a little bit of a larger print, non-traditional pattern, and two colors vs. multiple. The selling points of this dress were the charming, playful pattern and the warm caramel hue.

I envision it teamed with sneakers, a sleek sandal, or a pointy black ankle boot. A messy mane, barely-there makeup, minimal jewels– it just kind of speaks for itself. I’ve been keeping an eye out for a new leopard shoe, too (been thinking about these). Here’s a little glimpse into the kind of animal print pieces I’d like to call my own…
