Peach, Pear and Thyme

17 November

I’ve been spending more time in the kitchen–a phase I’m trying to hold on to because I’ve always wanted to be the type to effortlessly whip something up for friends. Oh, this old recipe! It’s a cinch! A lot of trial and error is taking place (i.e the apple pie I attempted to make for a friend’s Halloween party… which ended up looking quite sad next to ghost marshmallow brownies that were straight out of a Pinterest board), but every so often, like this cocktail, I feel so Martha-y!

I wanted to make a seasonal cocktail a couple weeks back for a fall dinner I hosted and was so pleased with this simple and refreshing sip. I love pear and if you’re like me and enjoy beverages that taste nothing like alcohol, you’ll really enjoy this! I wish I could be cool and sip martinis, but I just can’t. Here’s to being closer to the weekend and turkey day! Cheers xx

unnamed1 sprig thyme, fresh
a few basil leaves
1/4 cup gin
1/4 cup pear puree
1/4 cup peach puree
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp simple syrup
1/4 cup sparkling water

(For the purees. I took off the skin, slices in small pieces and threw them in my Cuisinart with the simple syrup. Once I poured the puree into the glass, I threw in a few mint leaves and let them soak in for a few minutes before removing, then added ice. Pour over the lemon juice and sparkling water, add thyme as garnish and voila!)
