Half Moon Bay has been on my list of places to visit for a long time now. It’s a quick and beautiful drive, and regardless of the gloomy weather, our time spent was a real treat. We stayed at The Ritz Carlton, which is tucked away from the busy city life and sits on a hill overlooking the ocean and a beautiful green golf course. Firepits align the edge of the property – the 360º view from the back lounge area is unreal. The “castle on the coast” is rich with history and the twinkle lights strung are pretty magical too. I can’t even imagine how stunning the resort looks on a sunny day at golden hour… my goodness.
After arriving and sitting starry-eyed at the ocean view, we walked down for a snack at The Conservatory, the in-house restaurant and lounge, before our 7 pm dinner. I already miss that rosemary focaccia – so damn good. We ordered a cheese plate and a glass of vino and acclimated quickly into vacation mode.
After vegging out a bit, we wandered around the hotel and ended our self-tour with taking in the view from the firepits. We planned to make a visit back after dinner later that night for s’mores – thank you to everyone who recommended this, it was a weekend highlight! How gorgeous is this place? I can’t tell you how much inspiration comes from staycations. The experience we had was one we won’t forget.
The hamachi at dinner was out of this world, a delicacy at Navio, the restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton. Beyond its presentation, it was fresh, interesting, and won our votes for favorite dish of the trip. We also ordered a bottle of Stags Leap Cab – always a delicious choice.
We’ll make any excuse to take a night off from the city and indulge in wine, spend time with each other, and experience a new place. Staycations are a breath of fresh air every once in awhile… everyone needs a little escape. I highly recommend staying here if you’re thinking of making a trip to Half Moon Bay.
We only had a night in Half Moon Bay, but it was more than enough time to fall in love with how peaceful and beautiful it is. Have you been to Half Moon Bay? What are your favorite things to do in the area? We decided we’re going to make another trip back soon to experience Main Street a bit more. It started to rain as we arrived to explore, so we hit the road home sooner than we wanted. I’d love to know your recommendations for next time! xx
