One of the most fun things about blogging is being able to share travel through my lens. Even if it’s just a glimpse into my local haunts, it doesn’t get old. I dub myself a foodie and an interior enthusiast–so offering everything from extensive to in-a-nutshell guides are my thing. So, here’s a new one for you! I’d categorize this guide as a “local list”. If you live in the city and haven’t made these rounds I’d be surprised! I also think these spots are the ones I think of when friends or family come to town and want to go somewhere special. Places I’ll always come back for more! My friend Courtney finally moved to the city (after years of persuading) so she joined me around town to some of my favorite places this week to celebrate the launch of Moleskine’s new travel bag collection. As a forever fan of Moleskine and list-making maven for many, many years, I was so excited at the chance to work with their team!
Their new classic leather backpacks are not only chic but so roomy and perfect for being on-the-go. I packed up my camera gear for the day and handbag odds and ends, and felt so comfortable and breezy when wandering around the city with Court. I haven’t owned a backpack since school days, but having one again has made me think, why didn’t I get my hands on one sooner? I’m always lugging my camera around, so having this new bag was so helpful! Not only just for work/photography, it’s ideal for traveling. I’m looking forward to bringing it along on our plane rides over the holidays. It’s the perfect size and is so simple and sleek.
Here’s a peek at Moleskine’s new backpack and six things I love to do in San Francisco…
Our Friday morning doesn’t start without Dynamo Donuts. Scout and I jog over to Crissy Beach to pick up coffee and donuts to start our day. Their donuts are out of this world (even the doggy donuts seem to win the pup over more than any treat we’ve ever given him! He pulls me towards the counter like he’s never been fed) and the almond milk lattes are perfect. They also just added a Lavender Mint Latte for fall and it is so good! We usually will enjoy our breakfast near (few short steps away from their little coffee hut) the water overlooking the Golden Gate before heading back home. Such a perfect way to start the weekend. They’re only open Friday-Sunday, so be sure to check them out when you can!
Another weekend tradition is a flower pickup. I’ve gotten to know the owner, Ladan, who is lovely. Le Bouquet has been a loved family-run business for over thirty years. Her passion for flowers shines through each time we catch each other in the shop. I’m always picking up palm and monstera leaves (which last weeks) or dahlias, David Austin roses, or ranunculus. It’s also relatively affordable compared to most SF flower shops. I always recommend going here above anywhere else when asked. One more *important* thing to note for fall: they make the most beautiful wreaths!
I’ve said it many times and I will say it again! Park Tavern is my No.01 brunch spot. You probably can’t sway me on that one. I will always bring friends out of town here, will recommend to people visiting for the first time, and if you’re a local like me– it’s most likely you agree. Order the hummingbird cocktail, the avocado toast, and the cast iron eggs!
Downtown Window Shopping
A few of my absolute favorite spots are downtown, so we made our way over. The weather was beautiful– sunny and 70. We started over on Market Street to get a good walk in/window shop/explore. In case you live in the city and want to get a good look/feel at the new pieces, the Moleskine store is a treat (at Market and Montgomery). Be sure to ask them for a copy of the map illustration they created that list all of these favorites! Wander down Maiden Lane, too while you’re at it. So charming and lots of good shops to pop into!
We continued our way towards the water, through China Town (which is so cool) and onto a longtime favorite, Wayfare Tavern for lunch. The popovers are TDF, but so is everything else on the menu. You can’t miss the deviled eggs, mac and cheese and the chicken!
One of the most picturesque spots on the water, with the most beautiful (and delicious) cocktails and amazing food! Coqueta is a total gem. I favor their sangria or one of their gin cocktails (known for their G+T’s), their croquettes and cheese plate. Everything is fantastic though.
Thank you to Moleskine for collaborating on this post.
