On Saturday, we hopped in the car and cruised up the scenic route to wine country, our home away from home. One of my absolute favorite drives, especially this time of year. The hills repleting grape vines, the leaves in full autumnal bloom, the crispness in the air, it’s simply serene. Since we were only doing a night away, Yountville is always a perfect option. Since it’s a small, walkable town, it’s easy to tick off a few boxes on the agenda, even if for only twenty-four hours. We arrived at Hotel Yountville, first time for us, and it was incredible. So quaint, quiet, and cozy. European-inspired, the rooms evoke feelings of being in a French cottage. Complete with a fireplace, personal balcony, and an enticing canopy bed– relaxation mode was activated upon arrival as we snacked on a cheese plate and opened a bottle of Hope & Grace on our balcony. My kind of Saturday night.
We made dinner reservations at Lucy down the street, the restaurant at Bardessono (which is the sister hotel to Hotel Yountville I discovered). We were able to call the front desk and arrange a car service to drive us over. Upon arrival, we were lucky enough to tour the garden behind the restaurant, where the chef grows his herbs, vegetables, and fruit for culinary cocktails. We tried cherry tomatoes right from the vine, and they were the best I have ever tasted! It was such a fun experience. Dinner was fantastic, too. The setting is moody, modern, and romantic. We ordered a bottle of Etude, the beet salad (so good), gnocchi, and the risotto dish. Highly recommend trying Lucy next time you’re in Yountville!
