Where to Book

We have stayed at two hotels that we've loved and highly recommend: The Hideaway (which is the same owners as Carneros Resort & Spa in wine country) and L'Auberge Carmel. I also have Cypress Inn on my list. I haven't stayed there personally, but have heard wonderful things. All three are conveniently located in the heart of downtown Carmel. Almost everything is walking distance in town.

What to pack

Carmel is similar to San Francisco weather since it's right on the water. It can be foggy and quite chilly, so I always pack layers for unexpected weather. It's very crisp and cold in the winter months! Since it's such an outdoorsy destination, I like to make my trips anytime from March-August. I always pack laidback outfits, comfortable shoes to walk in, and an elevated outfit for dinner { blouse, skinny jeans, heels }.

Where to explore/What to do

Our Carmel trips revolve around our meals and tasting visits, but wandering the streets and popping into coffee shops, and clothing boutiques { love Paloosh } are always fun in-between.

Where to eat/drink

La Bicylette is always our first stop for lunch upon arrival. It's fantastic { order the Margherita pizza and a bottle of wine }. Casanova is another top favorites and is the same owners as La Bicylette! Go here for dinner and sit out on the patio. It's the most romantic and delicious dinner date spot ever. We went to La Belena for my birthday a few years back and loved that place too. I haven't been yet, but Patisserie Boissiere is a French spot that comes highly recommended. We always go to the Tudor tasting courtyard while in town. It's a beautiful setting and they have some great wines!
