What’s in My Makeup Bag?

In it for the even skin, bright eyes, and golden glow.

I’m usually a makeup minimalist but over the last few weeks, I have enjoyed trying new things and getting more into cultivating an intentional beauty routine. I had been using the same handful of products religiously and forgot how much fun it is to discover new products and learn new makeup tricks! This rekindling definitely has to do with the fact that I’m doing my own makeup for my wedding. I’ve stocked up on some goodies and every application has been like a mini-trial.

I decided that instead of investing in hiring someone to come do my makeup for me, I can invest in new things to use for our special day. I wanted to share this post because I have been loving everything in my makeup bag as of late (new and old things combined). I feel like I’m in really good hands with these products on rotation…

skin

Olehenriksen Banana Bright Primer and Eye Cream –– Love these! I have a little bit of a pink undertone, so these were recommended because the yellow coloring balances skin tone before applying makeup.

Chanel Camelia Water Cream –– I just got this last week and I’m obsessed. I am fussy when it comes to products prior to applying makeup, but this is so light and soaks into my skin so well. It is light reflecting and gives you that dewy glow!

face

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation –– I have heard about this product forever and finally hopped on the bandwagon. I get it now! It really is such a beautiful product. It is aptly named because my skin, does indeed, look like silk when using it.

Chanel Le Correcteur Foundation Stick –– I used to use the Chanel foundation stick years ago and decided to give it a go again! I forgot how much I love their foundation. I do a few dots of this under my eye and on any red spots and it covers so well.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Essence-in-Foundation SPF 25 –– You know my love of this compact. I’ve been using this for a couple of years now. The compact comes with a second refill, to help justify the price. It usually lasts me an entire year. It goes on so light and evens my skin and feels like I am not wearing any makeup, which I love. And of course, SPF is a big bonus! This is a more everyday item for me.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Powder Foundation –– Since I love the foundation so much, I just got this in the mail and am such a fan. La Prairie products always blow me away.

Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Setting Powder in NUDE –– I’ve had this one for a couple of years and it’s so good. Love the color!

Chanetecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 –– I got this while back when a few of you guys recommended it to me and I’m still loving it. I haven’t been wearing it lately because the coloring is a little off with my summer tan, but I will be back once I’m back to being pale.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder –– Such a staple! A little dust on the areas of your face you’d like to matte out after finishing the rest of your face makeup. So light and lovely.

enhancers

Chanel Les Beiges Bronzer Nº40 –– New obsession. This bronzer is the best.  The color is the most gorgeous warm, milky tan.

Clé de Peau Beauté Duo Bronzing Powder –– I also love this one! I’ve had it for years and love how the duo has a lighter shade and a darker shade to sweep both, or to use individually.

Clé de Peau Beauté Luminizing Face Enhancer –– One of the only highlighters I’ve ever loved.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette –– I mentioned this in a recent post and just wanted to update you… still obsessed and can’t live without it now!

eyes

Chanel Ombre Premiére Eyeshadow in 804 –– A beautiful warm, golden shine for your eyelids…

Urban Decay Naked Palette –– This is a great neutral palette to have. It’s a staple in my makeup bag… love the light ivory color and the golden accents.

Roen Beauty Disco Eye Sparkle –– I just discovered this brand and fell in love with the looks of their disco eyeshadow! It’s such a unique texture and goes on super subtly. I love a little sparkle atop a neutral shadow to give extra brightness.

Chanel Contour Eyeshadow and Liner Stick in Metallic Flash –– Another new item that I can’t live without now! It’s medium gray/brown metallic liner and it makes me eye pop! It acts as an eyeliner––just a little thicker than I normally do with black. Highly recommend!

Clé de Peau Beauté Intensifying Liquid Eyeliner –– I don’t wear eyeliner very often, but I really like this one for when I do. It’s great because it has 2 sides with different length brushes.

Glossier Boy Brow and new Flick Stick –– Just got these and love them! The Flick Stick looks so natural…

Dior Diorshow Mascara –– Currently using this one, which I have used on and off for years and it consistently delivers. I love a fuller wand, and I find that this mascara gives my eyelashes extra length and doesn’t dry out too fast.

Lancome Hypnose Drama Full Mascara –– Another always favorite that I will continue to go back to!

lips

Chanel Coco Rouge Flash in Lumiére –– This color is the perfect everyday neutral pink. It’s so soft and pretty.

NARS Sheer Lipstick in ‘Barbarella’ –– This one has been in my makeup bag for over a decade… it’s a beautiful sheer peachy-pink hue.

tools

Cuyana Travel/Makeup Sets –– I’ve had my silver set for 3 years and just got another set in Ecru for extra makeup storage (and for traveling, too). I love these bags so much. The quality is amazing and the tan interior is beautiful.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler –– I was told that this is the only eyelash curler to use. It treats me well, that’s for sure! Lashes are my weapon of choice.

Beauty Blender –– I use this to blot in foundation and sometimes will use for cream blushes (when I use them, I don’t very often)

I also just got a handful of new brushes that I’m loving:

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzing & Contouring Brush

Kat Von D Lock-It Edge Foundation Brush

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Brush

IT Cosmetics Heavenly Skin Powder Brush

What are your can’t-live-without makeup products?

xx

  1. Love, love, love this post! I used to be a die-hard Chanel makeup fanatic but then took a break from makeup altogether. Because of your Instagram stories last week, I placed a few orders and forgot how much I love playing around with makeup (especially with a subtle summer tan going). Thank you!

    1. That’s how I feel, too! I had been using the same 4-5 products religiously and hadn’t really branched out in so long. I started to buy a bunch of new things earlier this moth to start practicing and it’s been so fun playing around with products. So glad you liked the post! Have a wonderful Monday, Kate! xx

  2. Oooh loved this post…and ordered the chanel eye shadow! I recently got totally hooked on cream eyeshadow. I wear mac paint pot in painterly every single day- it’s the perfect ‘no make up makeup’ on its own, or the best base for layering. I cannot live without it!
