Looking back on photos from each month and reliving memories from 2021… time just flies by faster each and every year. It’s wild.
The first half I was pregnant and around this time of year felt like a new woman after a rough first trimester. Winter and spring was full-on nest mode after buying our home in the fall. It was such a wonderful distraction and hobby of mine through a lot of my pregnancy! I basically painted our entire house, designed each room, project managed our french drain/tile project… it was a whirlwind but our home has come so far and we love it so much! It evokes such a happiness and charm that I always hoped for as a first family home while raising our girl.
And then June 18th came around and our lives were forever changed. Everyone always goes on about how time slips through the cracks when you have a baby and how quickly they grow… and I can confirm, they are not messing around. The last 6 months have felt like a snap of the finger and here we are with a silly little human keeping us on our toes. I love being a mom—it’s hard as hell sometimes, but there’s nothing worth it more than having a precious little one. Grace Isabel brings so much joy to our lives, it’s the best kind of love!
I always like to take a moment to think about what I’m proud to have accomplished this year. I think it’s so important we soak in and celebrate personal growth and wins! For me, making a child and bringing her into the world is up there, haha. I’m also so proud to have created The Studio for my close-knit readers. It has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself/work. I knew it would be special, but it’s exceeded my expectations in so many ways and truly brings such value to my life. It is my safe space and takes me back to early blog era days again which is the absolute best. So if you are a member, thank you so much for being apart of it all!
Lastly, I mentioned this over the summer, but I reached a big milestone with work—a lofty goal I had for myself for a couple of years. I have a new one now that I’m working towards which feels really exciting and has kept me motivated lately! My aim with projects I decide to take on has always been to work on a few select each quarter with companies who are mainstays in my life and so that’s something else I am proud to have accomplished. And with dream favorites like Net-A-Porter and Mytheresa. I feel super grateful!

I’ve been thinking about what my intentions are for the year ahead. I think for me, as a new mom… learning to juggle motherhood, work, passions… is to shift self-care and love to the very forefront. I feel like I am in tune with my self and usually do a pretty good job taking care of myself, but it’s just absolutely essentials these days to go above and beyond. For many reasons.
I want to be the best version of myself. I know the last year, through pregnancy and postpartum, I’ve felt anything but. I *need* to feel my best so that I can be the best mom, wife, friend. So that is my priority.
I have big plans in mind for my blog, my studio members, and for creative work ahead. I can’t wait!
