Seattle City Guide

Oh hey! It was beyond relaxing and fun to take a two-week break and disconnect a bit more than usual, but I’m so happy to be back. I hope you had a wonderful holiday as well!

Last week we flew to Seattle for 5 nights and had such a nice time. I had been to Seattle once, but when I was a lot younger so was pretty much seeing it with fresh eyes. Matt had to to go for work, so we made a mini vacation out of it. Thanks to many of your recommendations, we got to explore a few favored areas, taste an inkling of the Seattle food scene, and explore charming shops with lots of eye candy. I can’t get over the interior design shops in particular… dangerously good! My highlights were definitely Homestead (interiors… crazy beautiful rugs), The Pink Door for dinner, Sitka and Spruce for dinner, Purple Wine Bar & Cafe for wine and apps, and The London Plane for brunch.

Thanks again so much, everyone! It’s so nice to ask Instagram and get so many cool itinerary options. So helpful! And for those of you who have yet to visit or are planning a trip soon, I will pay it forward. Here are a few noteworthy spots to bookmark below… xx

Shop

Totokaelo | This shop is insane, a wallet whack at its finest! As I walked up I saw a bunch of BOYY bags in the window, a brand I’ve had my eye on for a long time now, so knew I was in for a real treat. They had all the good stuff– Ganni, Rachel Comey, Apiece Apart, Frame, LOQ, and so many more. Loved their home section (added Mansur Gavriel’s LA Flower Market book to my wishlist) and beauty selection as well (also need some D.S. & DURGA Burning Barbershop Perfume in my life). By far the best clothing and beauty shop from the trip.

Moorea Seal | Loved visiting this clothing/accessory shop as well. So many cute ceramics, denim, and fun earrings.

Homestead | If I lived in Seattle, I think this would be my favorite of all the shops I visited. Absolutely beautiful rugs, unique vintage decor, antiques, ceramics– all thoughtfully curated to such a laidback, elegant, bohemian vibe. So many pretty things to look at.

Marine Area 7 | Loved this charming recommendation! A smaller shop with both new and vintage including cookware, linens, wine, tools, and books. The owner often flies to Paris and brings back gems, like beautiful ceramics and hand painted china. This and the next two spots are right next to each other, so pop into all three in a row.

Maison Luxe | Bigger home store with big luxe pillows, rugs, beautiful furniture, juju hats, books.

Salt House Mercantile | All things kitchen! Soaps, linens, lotions, tools. A great spot to pick up a gift, souvenir, etc.

Glasswing | I didn’t get a chance to make it in here, but it came highly recommended. Women and men’s clothing, home goods, etc.

Stock & Pantry | A minimalists dream. Very clean, sleek home goods. Coffee table books, leather goods, candles, jewelry, textiles.

Flora and Henri | A darling shop near The London Plane. We bought a few table linens and almost got a ceramic dish (but was $$). They had such great home goods and also have a great selection of women’s clothing and baby clothes and gifts.

Brunch and Coffee

Odd Fellows Cafe | This cafe is a must. The food was fantastic and the setting was lively and charming. They also have a beautiful garden patio as well. I got the avocado toast and the rosemary lemonade and they were delicious.

The London Plane | A must while in Seattle! Easily the most raved about spot leading up to our trip and the very last thing we did while in downtown Seattle. The dishes were so unique and very good. It reminded me a lot of the Healdsburg Shed (if you’re familiar). They have a little flower stand in front you can build your own bouquet and lots of pretty kitchen goods to shop as well!

General Porpoise | I walked past and it was so cute. I’ve heard nothing but great things but just wasn’t feeling a donut at the moment. 🙂

Lunch/Dinner

The Pink Door | One of our favorite meals of the trip. We ordered seconds of the ricotta lasagna (when I say we, I mean Matt), and the halibut was delicious as well. This spot reminded me of Carmel charm. Very rustic, French-y, and the live music (pianist and guitarists) made it all the more magical.

Terra Plata | Veggie restaurant with a beautiful rooftop bar. I heard amazing things about the food, but we just stopped by the rooftop for a drink before our dinner at Sitka and Spruce.

Sitka and Spruce | Quaint little spot in the Melrose Market. Romantic, modern, and housemade bread aplenty. We really enjoyed it and the ambiance was lovely as well. A perfect date night spot!

Cafe Flora | I had lunch here on Matt’s work day after hopping around to a bunch of shops. This is right across the street from Salt House Mercantile and the other two shops neighboring it I mentioned. A good reason to uber over and explore and finish with a tasty meal! The food was amazing– I got the cauliflower crust pizza and a glass of rosé. Treat yoself, ya know? They also have a restaurant in the Seattle airport (called Florets) which we ended up grabbing before hopping back on the plane, too!

A few other popular recommendations we didn’t make it to Bar MelusinBateauStatesideThe Walrus & the Carpenter, and Westward.

Drinks

Purple Café & Wine Bar | We popped in for a glass of wine and appetizer on our first day in Seattle and really loved this place. Such a great happy hour spot! The ambiance was fun and lively and the food was fantastic, too. We got the baked brie with apricot jam and some fries. Yum.

The Nest (Thompson Hotel rooftop bar) | Our first stop on the trip was a great one! The views, music, cocktails were all a warm welcome. Looked like a super cute hotel, too!

Damn the Weather | We had wine and olives here on our second day after Matt finished work. Cool spot downtown (near Moorea Seal) if you’re in the area, I recommend! We didn’t eat but everything smelled great!
