I have been enamored with interior design since I was a little girl and have experimented most my life. I’ve really honed in on my style and what brings me the most peace and joy. I think the peace part is the most important—your home should feel like a comforting hug. A sigh of relief every time you arrive.
I love warm white or neutral, grounded wall tones. Natural elements and luxurious to-the-touch fabrics. Classic and old-world charm by way of lighting and antiques. These elements come together and create a timeless and ethereal backdrop. I’m greatly influenced by elements that light me up while traveling in favorite areas of Europe. And since I can’t live abroad (at least for now!)… my goal has been to evoke those feelings right where I am! French, Spanish, and English touches throughout.
I’ve heard the term “beige box” when referring to a home without a lot of colored walls, but I disagree with the seemingly negative undertone. Warm white walls are what make my house feel SO calming. I’m longtime inspired by Frances Elkins, who was known for buttercream paint tones in her designs. I love how our house lights up in such a warm way (Pointing by Farrow and Ball forever).
I then have the flexibility to change things up by the pieces within each room. I inject delight and color by way of beautiful fabrics (like our custom vintage tapestry pillows), books, blooms, our garden views, and all the colorful magic that comes with having a little girl.
Interior design is all about noticing what makes you feel the most comforted and inspired. Take note of what draws you in on travels, in design books, on movie sets… and slowly inject elements into your own space!
