Spring Beauty and Skincare Routine { 2017 }

That feeling when your routine is on point and you don’t want to change a thing because… skin is glowing. My inspiration behind this post– my skin is looking better than ever (for as far as I can remember), so I thought I would share with you what I’ve been doing/using. Many products are things I’ve loved for many years, so you may have heard me praise them before, but quite a few are new and are quickly getting under my skin (pun intended…and in the best way possible). From makeup to skincare, day to night, here’s what I just can’t live without.

Makeup

Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick
I’ve been buying this for over six years now, and have never come across a better foundation stick. I don’t like to use a ton of makeup on my face during the day, so this is great for covering up blemishes or redness. I swear by it.

Onomie Bright Concealing Elixir
I got this stuff in the new year for under my eyes and am still loving it. A little goes a long way in the little tube, and it brightens my undereye in one sweep.

Burberry Nude Powder or Bobbi Brown Nude Illuminating Powder
I switch back and forth between these two powders, both equally amazing and super light. I have been using both for about a year, and will continue to restock both, they won me over.

La Mer Bronzer
This is new in my makeup bag and I’m obsessed. It makes me look so tan, and it’s super light, so you don’t have to apply too much to see results. It’s big, so hoping it goes a long way since it’s a bit pricier than I usually would pay for bronzer. Such a beautiful bronze hue!

Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara (best I’ve tried in a long time!)
So, I went to Hawaii and brought a mascara I had in my linen closet because I had just run out of something and I was so bummed about my lashes the whole trip (would not recommend juice Beauty Mascara, sorry Gwen). I packed How to be Parisian Wherever You Are to read on or trip (yes reading again, it’s the best beach read!) and they mentioned Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara in their items they swear by, and so I ordered it on the spot. I’ve been using it all week and it’s so good. If you like a fuller wand that keeps your lashes full but also separated, you’ll love this too.

NARS “Barbarella” Lipstick
This is the only lipstick I have come across that I continue to buy again and again. I’ve been using it for over six years or so, and gift it all the time to friends and family. It’s the perfect nude/peach and is so subtle and gorgeous.

Fragrance

Cartier Baiser Vole
In love with this perfume. I’m not usually someone who reaches for floral notes, but it has a little musk in there and it so unique and addicting. I have been using it all weekend and couldn’t love it more.

Jo Malone Peony & Suede Blush
My love for this perfume runs deep. I’ve written about it many times and still use it on a weekly basis. This may be “my signature” scent, but I still love experimenting a bit.  How to be Parisian Wherever You Are says you must find your signature scent by 30, so there’s still time!

Replica Beach Walk A new favorite for summer, this smells so good and reminds me of being on vacation. A few notes to paint a better picture: bergamot, pink pepper, lemon, coconut milk, musk, cedarwood, benzoin. As long as there’s musk in there, I’m open to trying!

Saving the best, and most important for last. I have never really loved my skin. Growing up I feel like I always had issues. After college things definitely got better, but once I got into a good groove and reached my late twenties, I feel like I started to notice my skin slightly aging (gasp). As of last year, I began taking my skincare routine more seriously, and after TLC aplenty, I am very happy with how my complexion is looking lately. I wake up and it looks even, bright and hydrated. So much so that most days during the week, I’m not even wearing makeup! Isn’t that the best feeling? At the end of the day, it’s these lotions and potions doing all the magic. Plus, lots of water and rest. I am a grandma and go to bed at 10 pm each night and sleep in on the weekend. Here’s what is working well for me…

La Roche Posay Face Wash
So, funny story. This arrived in the mail a month or so ago and I don’t think anyone told me it was coming! Sometimes PR companies who have my address will send things every so often. I put it in my linen closet and a few days later I ran out of my face wash so went to go google it and ended up trying it that night. You guys… this stuff is amazing and so affordable. As soon as I started using it, I noticed a huge difference (pores gone, smooth and extra clean skin). Also, if you don’t have a Clarisonic, I highly recommend. Game-changing…have been using mine for years.

Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask
If my skin is needing a little extra love, I swear by this mask and have yet to come across something I like more. I’ve been buying this for several years now. Post facewash (using Clarisonic), I will let this sit for 5-10 minutes and rinse off and my skin feels like a baby’s butt. The goal!

La Prairie Line Interception Moisturizer or La Mer Perfecting Treatment (both super light)

Equally, love both for light day coverage. La Prairie has 45 SPF so that’s my pick if I am going to be spending a ton of time outside that day, otherwise, I love La Mer for days where I am at my desk.

Same as above! La Roche Posay Face Wash

Fresh Black Tea Eye Cream
Another product from Fresh’s Black Tea line– so rich and creamy, perfectly hydrating for eyes before bed.

Kypris Moonlight Catalyst Serum or La Prairie White Caviar Illuminating Pearl Fusion
Obsessed with Moonlight Catalyst… it smells like fruit loops and works wonders. I’m almost out and will be restocking soon. The La Prairie is a steep investment, but let me tell you– it is pushing back my curiosity of botox… it’s no wonder people love this brand so much… it works.

La Mer Creme de la Mer or La Prairie Line Interception Moisturizer
La Mer is a heavier cream so when I am feeling like my skin needs more hydration I will use this, and then the other nights I will use the La Prairie. Both are amazing.

  1. always appreciate when other bloggers share their beauty routines! i’m the worst when it comes to makeup, i never know what to use or what to stick with! definitely going to try a few of these!!

    1. Yay, glad I could help in some way! If I had to suggest two absolute musts to start, I would say that mascara and if you’re in need of a foundation stick, seriously adore this one. xx

  2. Okay going to need to try this face wash..no more big pores?! Sign me up! I actually got into black hole of pore refining products the other night and was up way past when I turned the light off haha!

      1. my site is being updated right now (used your girl 😉 ) or I would share my post with you..but Dr. Dennis Gross Beta Peel pads changed my skin! I used to never go without foundation and now I rarely rarely wear it!

        1. Oh amazing! Jaclyn is the best– so happy to hear you are having her redesign your site! And I love Dr. Dennis stuff, the Vitamin C oil is fantastic. Going to try that peel, thanks girl!!

    1. I know… the Pearl was gifted, it’s pretty steep, but it is *amazing* and I do feel like it will last a long time because you only need one pump per use. As far as La Mer goes, it’s totally worth the investment. I’ve used a couple now and they all changed my skin. You can always go to Neiman’s and ask for a sample before buying which is nice. The Perfect Treatment is a little more approachable. Skincare is the one investment I’m okay with a few times a year… it is my face after all! haha.

Also, that face wash brand is amazing, maybe try one of their moisturizers! I plan on doing so as well!

  3. Ooh, I wanna try the La Mer bronzer! Love Beach Walk, but I think my new favorite Replica scent is Perfume On 🙂

    1. Ow, I haven’t tried that one yet, going to next time I peruse Sephora. And yes, the bronzer is next level. Thanks lady!
